Early manufacturing of organic pigments namely Pigment Green B (for tinting concrete) and Lake Red C (used in the early PVC footballs)

Bob and Harold decided to form a company using Bob's technical knowledge and Harold's business acumen West and Senior Limited was formed and commenced trading at Pendleton Mills, Croft Street, Salford.

Bob Senior, as a Dye works chemist, first became acquainted with Harold Wyndham West who was a customer buying Dyestuffs
1945
Bob Senior returned to industry with Organic Dyestuffs after serving 4 years in the RAF as a navigator during WWII. Pre WWII Bob Senior had served his apprenticeship in the laboratories at L.B. Holliday & Co. Ltd. a dye manufacturing company finally qualifying in Pigment & Dye Organic Chemistry at the Huddersfield Technical College.
